Born To Entertain

So, hello everyone. I just want to share a story.

I really do have "Broadway on the brain" (like many of our fellow classmates do--at Pioneer High School for the Performing Arts in musical theatre.)
Story time: I was driving home the whole 5 hours from Ashton, Idaho. (By MYSELF, guys! I mean, my parents were there, but...it was still cool.) While only about 30 minutes from home, I was on the freeway approaching a sign, hanging on the side of the road. It said>>>>>
PATTI LUPONE

!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't believe my eyes. I was like, what the heck?! Why is there a road sign--supposed to be giving directions--worded with Patti LuPone's name?
I drove a teensy bit closer and, hello. The sign actually said PARK LANE.

Whatever.

This is Patti-rific LuPone singing a diva song for a diva lady. Because she is terrific.

Anyway, now we all know what's always "on my brain" since I was "born to entertain." ;) I just really wanted to put some song lyrics in here, that's all.

Top Three Musical Theater Obsessions

Ideally these Top Three Musical Theater Obsessions would be academy-wide, but I feel like what I have put together is more from my perspective, along with that of a few other people who I happen to associate with on a regular basis. So take this with a grain of salt. But anyway, with that in mind, this semester has had a pretty clear top three show/song obsessions among Musical Theater kids here at PHS.

"Run Away With Me" from The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown.

Bare: a Pop Opera (all of the versions, but particularly the one with Matt Doyle)

Spring Awakening.

While these are not my personal top three favorite things ever in the whole world, I think that they have had a lot of impact on the kids in our academy. The influence that these three things have had on the way I look at theater, and everything else, is definitely going to stick with me for years to come.

Hey Guys

Hello everybody! This is a blog. And, contrary to the title, it's is really just musical theatre according to your Admins, KC and Alessia, rather than every single MDT student at this school. We will post videos and little rants about musical theatre and just generally have a great time. So yeah. Feel free to contact us. We will not post any songs that have tons of bad content, even if they are the best song in the whole world. Just listen to them yourself, and feel free to post them on Facebook. We just don't want anyone to get mad, or be offended. Also, please don't hate on anything. Keeping negative energy to a minimum will help us all to just be able to share our love of musical theatre together.

Howdy, All

This is Alessia. You will please refer to me as Miss Love is the blogging world.
Just kidding. You can call me by my first name if you pronounce it right. ;) Oh, but if you are typing it, pronunciation isn't really necessary, I guess, so yeah.
I honestly just wanted to say hello and test out how this posting stuff works out. So to all friends and fellow students: hello!
Just so everyone is aware, the main main author of this blog is Miss Fralick, I would say. I think she's the smarter one between the two of us, but that's good since we need a real great brain contributing to this blog.
When you want some musical theatre inspiration, come here. No, seriously. We are all about musical theatre...and inspiration...

P.S. Even if you aren't a PHS student, you can still read this! It's all good! We welcome you with the openest of arms. (Is openest a word? Uh...I don't think so...)

I love all of you very much! Let's jump into this school year with smiles on our faces and a song in our hearts.

:)
